I’m not sure this is exactly correct. My understanding is that CCC is incorporated as a New York not-for-profit and was denied federal tax exempt status. The final ruling of the tax court was in 1982 so I don’t believe CCC ever had tax exempt status that was rescinded – it never got it in the first place. Incorporation as a non-profit and federal tax exempt status are two different things.
